A river at the back of our house, about 200 meters in the woods. I use to go here a lot when we first moved in. My friend and i would cut across this (on that log you see thrown over the water) to get back and forth to each others houses without having to take the road (which was more than twice the distance). Fell in once in the winter, my cousin pulled me out, took my back to the house half frost bitten and numb. One time we even swam in here. It was freezing, and about as deep as a puddle of water on a freshly paved road.

It was so unbelievably calm when i took this picture. You can tell from those leaves coming in on the right of the frame. They are part of the frailest little branch yet they're as sharp as can be, and this was a 30 second exposure. I just love how that feeling carried into the picture.

I just plain love this.

Kodak Tri-X 400. Polarizer and ND .6 filters.

edit: resubmitted with Fiber print in place of the place-matte that was there before it. plus this version is larger.
